Design your customer structure
Create the companies, the people, the addresses and the groups. Once, properly.
Build it in this order. The organization comes first, because everything commercial hangs off it. Then the people, who get their prices and terms from the company they point at. Then the addresses they ship to, and the segments that let pricing and campaigns talk about groups of companies instead of lists of them. Self-registration comes last, because it is the decision about who is allowed to join all of that without asking you first.
Beyond a handful of companies, create them through an import instead of the form. See Connect a system.
- Organizations and hierarchies — Create the companies, and model a customer with several sites.
- Contacts and roles — Who may see prices, place orders, and approve them.
- Addresses — Billing and delivery addresses, owned by a company or by a person.
- Segments — Group organizations so pricing and campaigns can target them.
- Self-registration — Let companies ask for an account, and decide who gets one.
