Troubleshoot
Tracing a price back to the list that produced it, the usual causes of pricing complaints, and the review loop that prevents them.
Pricing problems arrive as phone calls, not as error messages. A buyer sees a number they did not expect, calls their contact in the Innendienst, gets the right price by voice, and stops using the shop for that article.
So the skill worth building here is tracing: given a SKU, a buyer, a quantity and a market, being able to say which price list produced the number and why. It takes five minutes once you know the order to check things in.
- Check which price a buyer sees — reproduce a resolution by hand, in order.
- Common pricing problems — the symptoms, with their usual causes ranked.
- Price list hygiene — the monthly and quarterly review that stops the price book rotting.
