Maintain BOMs and drawings
Keep it healthy — Configurable Products & Spare Parts.
Both halves of this area fail quietly. A constraint loop does not raise an error — it produces a buyer who cannot reach a price and leaves without telling you. A BOM position pointing at a deleted part does not turn red — it produces a blank page behind a drawing callout. Neither shows up in a dashboard, and both show up eventually as a phone call.
So the checks here are scheduled rather than reactive: a rule-change routine for the configurator, and seven weekly filters for the parts data. Fifteen minutes a week, owned by one person, is the whole discipline.
- Configurator problems — No valid configuration, wrong price, constraint loops.
- BOM and drawing quality — Positions without parts, parts without drawings, dead supersessions.
